Buying a coin

Buy in a Fair Block or instantly on the woopcurve, in a single transaction.

Every new coin trades on the woopcurve, the bonding curve funklaunch is built on. On a SOL pair you pay in SOL. On any other pair, USDC for example, you can still pay in SOL: it's swapped into the pair token inside the same transaction. When you sell, you're paid in the pair token.

How to buy

  1. Open the coin's page and connect your wallet.
  2. Choose Fair Block (the default) or Instant.
  3. Type how much you want to spend.
  4. Check what you'll get and how much the price will move.
  5. Confirm in your wallet.

Fair Block is the default: your order settles with everyone else’s at one price. Instant fills now.

Fair Block or Instant?

  • Fair Block adds your order to a block alongside everyone else's. It settles a couple of seconds after the first order, and everyone gets the same price. More in Fair Blocks.
  • Instant buys right away. It fills from the coin's Exit Queue first, with no price impact, then from the curve.

If a Fair Block has orders in it, instant trades wait for it to settle, and the panel shows when that will be.

During a coin's first 60 seconds (the fair start) only the Fair Block is open, and each wallet can put in up to 2% of the $5k opening market cap, about $100.

The curve

Every coin opens at a $5k market cap and graduates at $50k, which takes about 125 SOL of buying. The coin page shows exactly how far it still has to go.

Buying moves the price up the curve, and bigger buys move it further. Selling moves it down. The buy panel shows the real price impact before you confirm.

What a buy costs

A buy costs 1.5%, instant or in a Fair Block. An instant buy that fills from the Exit Queue costs 1%. And because you're a holder, part of every fee comes back to you. More in Fees for traders.

Selling

Exit Queue1%none, fills as buyers arrive
Instant10%a fifth of your position per sell, one a minute

The cheap ways out are a Fair Block or the Exit Queue; an instant sell costs 10% for everyone. Selling also resets your time held, which shrinks your share of the holder fees. More in Hold-to-earn.

Your coins before graduation

Your coins show up in your wallet, but until the coin graduates they can only move through trades on funklaunch, not to another wallet. That's how the program keeps track of what each wallet put in, for refunds and the instant-sell limit.

They unlock for good at graduation.

If the coin doesn't graduate

If a coin hasn't graduated 7 days after launch, trading stops and everyone is refunded automatically:

  • The quote still in the curve is shared out according to what each wallet put in, after fees, minus anything it took out.
  • Everyone, the creator included, gets back the same share of what they put in.
  • A wallet that already took out more than it put in gets nothing more.
  • Fees aren't refunded.
  • Your coins unfreeze afterwards, so you can burn them and close the account to get its rent back.

The coin page shows the deadline. During a refund it also shows your amount, with a button to collect it right away.

After graduation

A graduated coin trades in its own WAMM pool, and your coins are unlocked:

  • 1% a trade. Half the fee goes to holders.
  • No 10% instant fee and no one-fifth limit. Buy and sell instantly, as much as you want.
  • Nobody can pull the liquidity. The pool has no LP tokens.

The trade panel switches to the pool by itself.
